Did you know?

Nova Scotia is home to some MAJOR technology companies. RIM (Creator of the Blackberry) and CGI (Canada's 2nd largest publicly traded technology company)

During the last couple of years open source technology has revolutionised the web and will soon dominate device applications. In fact open source operating systems now run more than 70% of all web servers world wide.

User generated content continues to grow exponentially dislocating conventional media changing the way we access information and entertain ourselves. For Atlantic Canadian businesses and organisations perhaps the most important impact is the reduced cost and greatly improved functionality of open source websites.

During 2010 the Technology section of this website will endeavour to explain "why and how" open source environments benefit both publisher and audience. We will showcase Atlantic Canadian success stories and link to the best open source development resources.

We encourage our visitors to share their open source projects and introduce those they have discovered that have been developed by others. In the next few weeks we will establish a forum where people can participate in a dialogue on open source topics.
